Bar Codes Educate Wine Drinkers

Mobile bar code applications are now spilling into the wine industry. Some wineries, such as JUSTIN Vineyards & Winery in California, are now using 2D bar codes on their labels to inform consumers of their product.

If you aren’t a wine connoisseur, it can be confusing to try and select a nice wine just by looking at the pretty images and stylized text on the label. But now when you need a little help, you can simply scan the code on the label with your smartphone. Instantly you get information, like tasting notes or even a video, from the vintner. With a little added knowledge, you can feel more confident about making a choice.

Besides helping consumers, this technology can also help retailers and distributors. Being able to access information instantly like this can help them sell wine, especially in foreign markets.

Do you use 2D codes on your products?  Want to learn more? Give me a call at 603-598-1553 x237.
